GUESS WHAT?! Jennifer M is going to be +1!

It was the shock of a lifetime, for the good! I found out I was pregnant at 32 weeks! Yes, I kid you not, 32 weeks! It was shortly after the holidays and I had put on about 15 pounds and the weight seemed to be gathering in the “muffin top” region. One day, on my way to my studio, I decided I was going to take a pregnancy test, just to rule it out, and when it came back negative I would go to the gym that night. As soon as I got to my studio, I took the test and it immediately showed up positive! This was basically my facial expression when I found out (only two days before Valentine’s day!)

I found out on a Wednesday and that Friday was Valentine’s Day. I hadn’t really thought about anything yet for Mike, but now I had lots of thinking to do! I had my first OB appointment early Friday morning. Thank God it was an early appointment because I think I was there almost all day! I went into the first doctor’s room so they could check me out, get a heartbeat on the doppler, and do the tape measure test. I was thinking I was only a month or two. The nurse did the tape measure and she said 30 weeks. At that point I didn’t even know how long the gestation period was, and I didn’t do the math all that quickly. My friend sitting beside me freaked out! She’s like WHAT?! 30 weeks?! That means you’re 7.5 months pregnant!

I started freaking out. I was immediately scheduled to go upstairs to have a high risk ultrasound. They did an anatomy scan immediately and also told me the gender and that I wasn’t measuring 30 weeks, and instead I was measuring 32 weeks! Scrambling, I went to Tiffany’s bakery and got a few cookies and had my due date written on them along with Mike’s name, and Nana, and Nanoo. I got them each a card and put their own cookie in their box. I gave Mike his separately and first. It took him a few tries to realize what I was trying to say to him. I have it on video. It is hilarious. Finally, I put my hand on my belly and he whispers, “You’re pregnant??” I said “I’M EIGHT MONTHS PREGNANT!!!” His eyes bugged out just like in this picture below. That moment was so funny and memorable and special. I still look back at that video if I want a good laugh!

Mike of course wants to have an abs competition with everyone he meets. He may have better actual abs than I do in this picture and did or ever will have, but I’m growing a HUMAN BEING in my mid section! I’m pretty sure mic drops on that one!

Akron Wedding Photographer Moves! Welcome to my NEW STUDIO!!!

akron photographer

I have moved my business into the the gorgeous building located at 15 Broad St in Akron, 44305. The structure was built in 1908 and originally housed a ceramic pipe manufacturing company.

Tank, my resident bulldog, welcomes any guest to the building with warmth. He loves waking up every morning, going to work with mom, and being a working office dog!

The detailed brickwork of this historic building in Middlebury neighborhood is very ornate. Notice the “dental” brickwork.

Tank says, “Welcome to 15 Broad!”

This is the GRAND hallway where I will be able to hang some of my work! (Original hardwood floors, incredible.)

This is my office and the area I have my initial client meetings. On the wall to the right is my collection of vintage cameras that my brother has supplied me. Through the door on the far right is my prop closet that leads to my private bathroom.

The “green” room is where the actual studio shooting takes place, although there are a TON of different locations through the entire building that I am able to use as shoot locations.

The conference room is shared by all the businesses in the building and has a huge projection screen on the wall to the left along with a projector. This has already come in VERY handy for several of my client meetings after the shoot is over.

And here we are where we started. Tank looks off as people drive away saying, “Good bye and come again soon!”

My picture on the cover of a Cleveland Maternity Magazine! | Akron Maternity Photographer

Brittany & the future Wyatt

This photograph was taken last August, 2011 and at my backyard “outdoor” studio.

I have to admit, it feels pretty darn cool to see my image on the cover of a magazine. It was even cooler when I actually received the magazines and saw them in print. This really inspires me to keep the pictures snapping away and trying my best to get published!

Wyatt’s 6 month photoshoot! | Akron Family Photographer

Wyatt Turns 6 Months!

Jennifer M Photography | Akron Family Photographer

As many of you may know, Wyatt is my precious little love of a nephew. He lights up my day whenever I get to see him, and I’m pretty sure I do the same for him too since he is always all smiles when he sees me!

I never truly understood the joy of taking a nap until I took a nap with him. He fell asleep on me the other day as I was humming “You are my sunshine.” Then, before I knew it, I had rocked myself to sleep as well, lol! He laid there on my chest for probably two or more hours, as innocent as innocence can possibly be. He really is my sunshine and I’m so happy that my brother and Brittany brought him into this world! Xoxo, Auntie

Fort Worth, Texas Travel

On the way home from the Houston trip that I blogged about below, I made a stop in Dallas/Fort Worth. The land was beautiful, the scenery lush, and the cowboys…well…something to be reckoned with! Big trucks, big hats, and tall boots seemed to surround me everywhere and I was eating up every last morsel. I never realized how much I like that southern charm until I was personally in the midst of it. When I entered a few of the shops there I was automatically greeted with the southern drawl, “Well, howdy ma’am! What can we do fer ya today?” I smiled graciously and said with the little (or no) charm that us northerners have, “Just looking for some cowboy boots for my nephew Wyatt, thanks!”
When I arrived in downtown Fort Worth unbeknownst to me the cowboys walk the longhorn steer every morning and afternoon from the pen to the rodeo which is down the street. What I loved the most about this was the real life cowboys on their horses! I felt like I was on the set of a John Wayne movie! I have to admit, I have never met a real cowboy in person. They rode their horses and kept the steer moving where they needed to go. For a northerner like myself, this was quite a spectacle. I’m sure I looked like such a tourist with my big camera in hand, eyes wide open, huge smile plastered on my face, in awe of a few cows? Oh well, I’m corny, I know. But I liked it!

MY HALLOWEEN MUTTS! | Akron Dog Photographer | Jennifer M Photography

I’m not a huge fan of dressing your dogs up in little outfits, like a tutu or a sweater, or whatever people come up with these days, but I COULD NOT RESIST DRESSING THEM UP FOR HALLOWEEN! I think these are hilarious! The only thing better than seeing them in these pictures is seeing them in person! Taylor walks around like she is a SUPER DOG! And Tank doesn’t know if he going or coming, if he’s a dog or a pumpkin! It’s sooo funny and I thought I would share these special moments with all of you! Enjoy!

Good Morning, Beautiful | Jennifer M Photography | Akron Wedding Photographer

Jennifer M Photography | Akron Wedding Photographer

A wonderful thing about waking up early in the morning is the sun and light is so different. The fog has yet to dissipate and the light that comes through is like no other. When I woke up this morning and I saw this beauty shining in through the back windows and went straight for my camera. I hope my neighbors weren’t too offended that I was still in my nightclothes! 😉
