Celebrate the epitome of womanhood, but why?

Not everyone loves being pregnant or feels great during this time. Many women do not feel good about the way their body is changing and may be different forever. Lots of women experience significant weight gain as well as swelling and discomfort which may detour many from wanting to be in front of any camera, much less a professional one. It’s okay to feel that way and totally normal and legit. But here’s what I know:

Right now, while you are pregnant, your body is doing miraculous things. Your heart is literally beating for two (sometimes more!). The changes happening to your body is purely powerful. The round bump forming is nothing less than representative of the strength of a Goddess. The Goddess that you are. We have been given the privilege of growing these tiny humans, a true honor.

When people say the old cliché “you’re life will completely change forever,” it’s 100% true. Your priorities will shift. Your dreams will change. It will just be different. Capturing this time of your life prior to this next chapter, where it is just you and your partner, just you, or any combo of what reflects this dynamic is very important because soon that dynamic will no longer exist and will become something very new and different!

Pregnancy seems like forever while in it, but in the grand scheme of things, it is barely a blip on the radar. The time passes so quickly that it is quickly forgotten and before you know it, your child will be old enough to want to see what it looked like to be inside mommy’s belly. You’ll want to have these pictures to share, trust me.

When should I schedule this amazing photo shoot?!

I typically suggest around 35-36 weeks. Some photographers suggest earlier or later, but in my own personal experience, both in front of and behind the camera, the best timing has been in this gestational range. We can chat about your own pregnancy: how you’re feeling (nerves also) and if there are any complications that may indicate an earlier shoot. You may also want to wait longer if you feel you are not showing enough. Each bump is different! As always, I am happy to accommodate your wishes.

Where should we shoot?

I have three different options for maternity shoots. The first is my own studio which includes backdrops, white walls, wood flooring, and a white bed. The second is a local park/field setting in Fairlawn, Copley, or West Akron. The third setting is a beautiful old warehouse with vintage furniture, HUGE windows, and endless natural light. Along with the warehouse setting, an additional outdoor option is downtown Akron. All choices result in beautiful imagery, but give a little different feel that may be more appealing to some. Shoots can be booked individually or as an indoor/outdoor duo.

What should I bring?

Bring any changes of clothes you want to wear. I have a handful of maternity gowns, but I always recommend bringing items you feel comfortable in as well. Make sure to come hair and make up ready, but bring items with you for touch ups if needed during the shoot. Come in skin-colors under garments or something you don’t mind showing through for lace or sheer gowns. You are always welcome to go bare. Please, no tennis shoes. Natural nails are also recommended because they will show up in some of the pictures.

How does this all work now that I want to book?

Each session is 45 minutes to one hour long. You’ll first want to head over to the investment page and decide what is going to work best for you and your budget. Then tap the “schedule here” button located throughout this website, at the bottom of this page or HERE. Select the date and time that works best for you and yours. You will enter payment details at that time and confirmation will be sent within 24 hours.

Arrive to your session about 10 minutes early so we can start shooting right at your scheduled time. Your pictures will be available for preview the following week and that session will be scheduled at the end of your photo shoot. At the preview session you will choose your included portraits as well as any add-ons such as a book, canvases, or additional digitals. Turnaround time varies, but typically digitals are a week, prints are two weeks, and books & canvases are 3-4 weeks.
