Wyatt Turns 1!

Jennifer M Photography | Akron Family Photographer

Wyatt, as most of you know, is the brightest light in my life and my nephew. I love him more than I ever knew I could love something or someone. He brings joy to my heart not only every time I see him, but every time I even think of him. I had the privilege of taking his 1 year photos (as well as all the other photos associated with his life and any previous events leading up to him ;)… The red barn images were taken in my back yard in Copley where I live on 5 acres.

akron-family-photographer

My brother Mike purchased this International tractor on Ebay and then restored it to even better than new condition. Wyatt isn’t quite big enough yet to ride it, but he’s getting there quickly!

akron-family-photographer

Clearly Mike is an International tractor fan and has a big boy red International tractor of his own. 😉

akron-family-photographer

We swear we did not style his hair like that! For some reason it just went into this centralized plume on the middle of his head!

The one and only! Cry baby bridge! Yes, honest! That’s THEE Cry Baby Bridge, in Doylestown! I hear it’s totally haunted. Good thing we were there during the day. In order for me to get this shot however, I had to get into the river and frogs and fish were nipping at my feet!

This is probably my favorite one, Wyatt’s engaging eyes with the camera and the size difference of the hands holding.

“I want to be just like my Daddy when I grow up!” Well Wyatt, your dad’s a pretty cool dude!

The Ruffers were so much fun to photograph! Luckily we chose the most perfect day to shoot! It was a warm day for this colorful fall Ohio photoshoot. They are exceptionally photogenic and very comfortable in front of the camera which is always an added bonus!

akron-family-photographer

It pays to live in Ohio when it’s the middle of October and the leaves give the most vibrant of backgrounds. I love being an Akron Family Photographer on a day like this!

Getting Ready for your Engagement Shoot

Almost every single engagement shoot I do my brides ask me, “What should I wear?” So I decided to write a blog post specifically dedicated to your appearance for your engagement shoot. First and foremost there are a few things that are imperative to bring with you to your engagement shoot. They are pretty basic, but very important.

  1. Bring an open mind and a great attitude. This is going to be a super fun shoot! I understand not everyone likes getting their picture taken, but just have fun with it! If you are particularly camera shy and feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, haha, have a glass of wine (that seems to help taking the edge off ;)…

cleveland-engagement-photography

  1. Come with ideas! Pinterest is one of the greatest inventions of this century (in my humble opinion at least). I LOVE it when my brides bring me their Pinterest page of engagement ideas. Usually this is the first time I am shooting with my bride and groom and this gives me a great idea of how to incorporate their personal style with my creative photographic style.cleveland-engagement-photography
  1. Coordinate. I’m not saying match like you’re going to Cedar Point, but try to dress accordingly… to each other. Try complimentary colors also, for example, if your groom is wearing a cool colored shirt such as a blue, an orange family dress would be perfect!cleveland-engagement-photography
  1. Make it POP! Ladies, do not be afraid to wear bold colors. You want to add some spice and sass to your shoot. A bold blouse, dress, or pair of heels will add just the right pizazz to your images.cleveland-engagement-photography
  2. Hair and Make Up. I ALWAYS suggest my brides to take advantage of a trial run for hair and makeup specifically for this shoot. Go a little (not a ton) overboard on the make up. You most definitely want to wear more makeup than you normally do. This will photograph much better and significantly accentuate your features.cleveland-engagement-photography
  3. Bring a few outfits and give it some options! Ladies, bring a nice pair of jeans, coordinating blouse, jacket/cardigan, and heels for one outfit; a nice summer dress or a standard casual dress; and then a cocktail dress for a more sophisticated look. Gents need to bring nice jeans, dress shoes and a button down dress shirt to match the first look; possibly a more casual pair of jeans and nice polo shirt for the second look; and dress pants, blazer, and nice dress shoes for the third look. Not all three looks are necessary for each shoot, but it definitely gives a great variety to work with and different location options as well.cleveland-engagement-photography
  4. Accessorize! Bold and chunky are in right now, but make sure the necklace works with the neckline, the style doesn’t clash with your clothes, and neither do the colors. P.S. Ladies, if you have short hair, it is almost imperative that you wear big earrings.cleveland-engagement-photography
  5. Ladies: Heels. Heels. Heels. HEELS LADIES! Even if you are as tall as I am, you ALWAYS want to elongate your legs as much as possible, even with jeans! Gents: Dress shoes! As much as you possibly can please avoid tennis shoes. Unless you are doing a sports themed e-shoot or you are going on a major hike in the park, keep it to nice dress shoes.cleveland-engagement-photography
  6. Layers: Gals – this means cartigans, blazers, lightweight sweaters on top of your blouse and possibly a peacoat (depending on the season) to top it off. Gents – on top of your button down shirt, possibly wear a vest of some sort or a lightweight sweater or blazer and don’t forget the leather jacket…season appropriate of course.cleveland-engagement-photography
  7. And by all means: STAY TRUE TO YOU. If you don’t love the way you look in it, don’t wear it. Everything you bring needs to reflect you and your own style. If you feel comfortable, you will photograph natural and that’s the best way!cleveland-engagement-photography

The Knapp Family Fall Photoshoot, Akron Ohio

The Knapp Family’s Fall Portraits in Akron

Akron Family Photographer | Jennifer M Photography

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of meeting Pam and her daughters, Lexi and Brooke. Pam’s husband’s birthday fast was approaching so they decided to give him a beautiful portrait for his birthday present. We had fun with the shoot in the shed that used to be my studio.

He loved the image of his special girls and now has it on the wall at their home. We all got along so well that Pam and her family came back for more. This time for a fall family photo shoot. Again, we had a blast, cracking jokes, lots of laughs.

cleveland-family-photography

cleveland-family-photography

They’re like, “You want us to lay on the ground and take pictures of our feet?!” But they went along with it and ended up really liking the picture!

cleveland-family-photography

I love the spunk that this family has. I swear I didn’t have to pose them one little bit for this one! That’s some sassy Akron family photography!

cleveland-family-photography

I love the love that shows through with Bob and Pam. You really can tell how much they care about each other. Having loving parents is so important to have in a happy family.

Youngest daughter Brooke…

And oldest daughter Lexi who is already practicing for her senior portraits 😉

Akron Wedding Photographer Moves! Welcome to my NEW STUDIO!!!

akron photographer

I have moved my business into the the gorgeous building located at 15 Broad St in Akron, 44305. The structure was built in 1908 and originally housed a ceramic pipe manufacturing company.

akron photographer

Tank, my resident bulldog, welcomes any guest to the building with warmth. He loves waking up every morning, going to work with mom, and being a working office dog!

akron photographer

The detailed brickwork of this historic building in Middlebury neighborhood is very ornate. Notice the “dental” brickwork.

akron photographer

Tank says, “Welcome to 15 Broad!”

This is the GRAND hallway where I will be able to hang some of my work! (Original hardwood floors, incredible.)

akron photographer

This is my office and the area I have my initial client meetings. On the wall to the right is my collection of vintage cameras that my brother has supplied me. Through the door on the far right is my prop closet that leads to my private bathroom.

The “green” room is where the actual studio shooting takes place, although there are a TON of different locations through the entire building that I am able to use as shoot locations.

akron photographer

The conference room is shared by all the businesses in the building and has a huge projection screen on the wall to the left along with a projector. This has already come in VERY handy for several of my client meetings after the shoot is over.

akron photographer

And here we are where we started. Tank looks off as people drive away saying, “Good bye and come again soon!”

Wide angle of the entire facade of the building. Thanks for stopping by and we all hope to see you on NOVEMBER 17th for the OPEN HOUSE – GRAND OPENING – ART RETROSPECTIVE!

I had to put this on here simply because of the adventure we went through to get to this location. Literally there were crickets jumping all over us and up the brides dress. I could not look down or I would have started to freak out! Luckily, Stacy, sister of the bride (right) kept us all in check to make sure we got a great pic. 😉 Sometimes, haha, it’s not so great being a Cleveland wedding photographer! ♥

Molly + Jason’s Engagement Photo Shoot

Akron Wedding Photographer | Jennifer M Photography

It was cold, windy, and a bit rainy, but the fire that burns between Molly and Jason kept them warm through the whole shoot. Haha, sounds pretty cheesy, right?! Well, it is but they were really cute because at the beginning of the shoot they were freezing and by the end of the shoot it seemed like they pretty warm and snuggly for each other.

My picture on the cover of a Cleveland Maternity Magazine! | Akron Maternity Photographer

Brittany & the future Wyatt

This photograph was taken last August, 2011 and at my backyard “outdoor” studio.

I have to admit, it feels pretty darn cool to see my image on the cover of a magazine. It was even cooler when I actually received the magazines and saw them in print. This really inspires me to keep the pictures snapping away and trying my best to get published!
